Naomi Campbell hosts:
Fashion For Relief Haiti
by Ian J Larraga
It wasn't a show by a top name designer that was one of the best shows during Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. That distinction goes to Naomi Campbell and her fashion show fundraiser Fashion for Relief.
This time, Naomi is raising funds for the nation of Haiti that's in desperate need of help after a major earthquake destroyed the city of Port-au-Prince.
Naomi, with the help of her many friends in the world of fashion, music and entertainment took to the runways in clothing donated by the world's top designers. The show was made available to the public through American Express ticket sales and the clothing was auctioned off to provide more funds.
The show sold out, and guests were treated to a fun romp on the catwalk by top models, past, present and future and even a few designers.
The evening ended with a touching tribute to the late Alexander McQueen who passed away earlier in the day. Models that were close friends with him wore his donated designs at the end of the show.
Fashion for Relief Haiti was a tremendous success for all involved and Naomi plans to do a London version of the show for the upcoming London Fashion Week.
