Mercedes Benz Fashion Week New York:
Irina Shaybayeva Fall 2010 Collection

Irina Shaybayeva will forever have the distinction of being the first Project Runway winning designer since the show's move to the Lifetime Network. The reason why she won of course was obvious, she's an incredibly talented designer.

Irina's Fall 2010 collection showcases all of her skills. Based on a motif of wings and flight, the collection showed numerous suit ensembles, coats, jackets, sweaters, gowns and dresses made in a wide array of natural and industrial materials. The industrial materials were provided by Tupperwear, a major sponsor of her show.

There were many pieces such as the oversized cashmere sweaters and the hand painted jackets with fur trims that I felt should be in stores right away. The gowns and dresses made of various bird feathers were all jaw-droppingly beautiful. My favorite in the group was the short pheasant cocktail dress.

Irina has a tremendous future ahead of her. Hot off the heels of her Project Runway win, she's well on her way into expanding her brand. She hopes to one day develop it into a lifestyle brand and with her abilities, I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. I wish her well with all future endeavors.
